GOAL Digital Academy Select Norstan CDG
MINNEAPOLIS --(Business Wire)-- April 6, 2004 -- Enhancing student and teacher safety with Norstan's NIPA(TM) Status Alert
Norstan, Inc. (Nasdaq:NRRD), a leading provider of communications technology solutions and services, today announced the Norstan Convergence Development Group (Norstan CDG), a business unit of Norstan Communications, Inc., has been selected by GOAL Digital Academy, an Ohio public charter school, to implement an IP Telephony application that enhances their campus security.
The GOAL Digital Academy is a premier distance-learning center serving K-12 students in Mount Gilead and Morrow County, Ohio. Students attending the Academy receive all curriculums via the Internet, interacting with teachers and classmates via e-mail, instant messaging, bulletin boards and occasional personal instruction. GOAL needed an IP application that would ensure security for their web servers and other technology used for instruction.
Using NIPA(TM) Status Alert, Norstan CDG provided GOAL with a system that provides this needed security 24X7 / 365 days a year. Window and door sensors were installed in key, secure areas. Wireless receivers were placed throughout the campus and integrated with the NIPA(TM) Status Alert application. If unauthorized access is attempted to a secured location, the Norstan CDG solution generates an immediate call to the Academy Director's cellular phone.
