One Connect IP to Acquire NSI Communications: Accelerate Mountain West VoIP

By DAVID R. BUTCHER, Assistant Editor, Customer Interaction Solutions

One Connect IP, a regional VoIP service provider, today announced it has signed an agreement to acquire NSI Communications LLC, a provider of VoIP services in the Idaho and Utah markets. One Connect IP, a privately held company, currently serves business and residential customers throughout the Mountain West.

Terms and conditions of the acquisition have not been disclosed.

One Connect IP, founded early last year, uses a carrier-grade platform and private network to deliver its converged solution set of voice, data, video and wireless communications with a suite of feature-rich products and applications. NSI Communications, founded in 2003, is based in Idaho Falls; it purportedly has several thousand deployed lines. Building upon One Connect’s platform, technical experience and financial strength, the combination is intended to provide customers throughout Idaho and Utah with superior business communications solutions.

“By combining NSI’s network and solid customer base with One Connect’s market-leading VoIP services, we expect to greatly accelerate the availability of VoIP and communications services bundles to these underserved markets,” said One Connect IP CEO Robert Pratt in a corporate statement.

One Connect IP was launched to deploy next-generation VoIP communications services, via an advanced software-based development platform, for small and medium-size businesses in traditionally underserved markets throughout the Mountain West region. One Connect IP, headquartered in Albuquerque, New Mexico, will roll out services under its own brand. Over time, the company intends to convert existing NSI customers to its own brand and softswitch platform while continuing to operate existing services. It will likely take about six months to move NSI customers over to OneConnect’s telecom platform.

One Connect IP offers bundled voice and data services, and its current suite of business VoIP solutions are designed to accommodate varying customers’ needs. The company offers a full-feature hosted PBX solution that provides “advanced PBX capabilities without the need to install expensive PBX hardware at the customer premise.” The following features are included: local phone numbers and number portability; free long distance; advanced auto attendant capabilities; self-managed moves, adds and changes; unified messaging; and a Web portal interface. Further, integration with Microsoft Outlook allows users to make and return calls with a simple click of the mouse.
