Police find four freezing Vietnamese at border

(Czech News Agency Via Thomson Dialog NewsEdge)KARLOVY VARY, West Bohemia, Jan 27 (CTK) - The border police found four Vietnamese, three men and a woman, at the Czech-German border after a several-hour search today, Helena Fertsakova, police spokeswoman in Plzen, West Bohemia, told CTK today.

The four Vietnamese were in a nine-member group that attempted to cross the border illegally. Another five Vietnamese without documents along with a German driver were detained by German policemen at the Vojtanov border crossing earlier.

"The man [driver] indicated during the questioning that he had dropped nine persons on Czech territory and he had instructed them how to cross the border. He was to pick them up on the other side. However, only five women got to Germany," said Fertsakova.

The Czech border police then started to search for the rest of the Vietnamese group.

Border policemen saw their traces and later they found four Vietnamese completely frozen and totally exhausted near Luby, west Bohemia, Fertsakova added.

The detained refugees will be now checked on the basis of their fingerprints as they had no personal documents.

"The German police will probably send the rest of the group to us tomorrow," Fertsakova noted.
