WJ Communications Announces Availability of a 1-Watt UHF RFID Reader Module for the Singapore Market
SAN JOSE, Calif. --(Business Wire)-- June 27, 2006 -- WJ Communications, Inc. (Nasdaq:WJCI), a leading designer and supplier of RF solutions for the wireless infrastructure and RFID reader markets, today announced the availability of a Gen2 UHF RFID reader module, the MPR7040, for the Singapore market. The easy-to-implement MPR7040 delivers exceptional RF performance, 1-watt of power, customized solutions and considerable size advantages. This device is compliant to global standards, along with offering serial interface of 3.3V CMOS levels (up to 5V), and is suitable for handheld, printer, forklift, portal and other mobile or fixed device applications.

Product Overview
The 1.0 Watt MPR7040 reader module operates over the specified Singapore UHF frequency band (923-925 MHz) and includes the RF, digital circuitry and embedded firmware required for EPC Class 0, EPC Class 1 Gen1 and 0+ Zuma, and ISO18000-6C (UHF Gen2) international standards operation. The MPR7040 leverages the common PCMCIA Type II package with 3.3V CMOS levels (up to 5V) serial communications. This product is designed to be plugged into a PCMCIA Type II socket wired for serial communications and to be operated via a WJ provided Graphical User Interface (GUI) program. WJ's MPR7040 reader module's simple but powerful command set allows for fast creation of custom applications via an open-source DLL.
