(AP Online Via Acquire Media NewsEdge) New report identifies dangerous Web domainsSAN JOSE, Calif. (AP) _ When surfing the Internet for safe Web sites, not all domains are equal. Companies that assign addresses for Web sites appear to be cutting corners on security more when they assign names in certain domains than in others, according to a report to be released Wednesday by antivirus software vendor McAfee Inc. McAfee found the most dangerous domains to navigate to are ".hk" (Hong Kong), ".cn" (China) and ".info" (information).

Report: Icahn more determined to oust Yahoo boardSAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Outraged by new details about Yahoo Inc.'s efforts to complicate Microsoft Corp.'s takeover bid, activist investor Carl Icahn says he believes Yahoo's board will have to be fired to lure Microsoft back to the bargaining table. Icahn asserted in a Tuesday interview with The Wall Street Journal that Microsoft is unlikely to renew its courtship as long as Yahoo Chief Executive Jerry Yang and the company's eight other directors remain on the job.

Comcast to test new way to manage Internet jamsNEW YORK (AP) _ Comcast Corp., under fire for the way it treats subscriber Internet traffic, will start tests this week to see if it can avoid traffic jams by targeting neighborhood bandwidth hogs rather than file-sharing programs. The tests will be conducted in Chambersburg, Pa., and Warrenton, Va., starting Thursday, and later this summer in Colorado Springs, Colo., a Comcast spokesman said Tuesday.

Grandfather builds Web browser for autistic boyJohn LeSieur is in the software business, so he took particular interest when computers seemed mostly useless to his 6-year-old grandson, Zackary. The boy has autism, and the whirlwind of options presented by PCs so confounded him that he threw the mouse in frustration. LeSieur tried to find online tools that could guide autistic children around the Web, but he couldn't find anything satisfactory. So he had one built, named it the Zac Browser For Autistic Children in honor of his grandson, and is making it available to anyone for free.

Oklahoma City unveils government Wi-Fi networkOKLAHOMA CITY (AP) _ When Oklahoma City firefighters received a report that a body had been buried in a shallow grave at Lake Overholser, they consulted detailed topographical maps from the field as they pinpointed where to look. That wouldn't have been possible without access to the city's new Wi-Fi mesh network, said fire Capt. Jim Kruta, who held a display of the network applications with police and other city officials on Tuesday outside City Hall.

Microsoft exec says Live Search needs image fixSEATTLE (AP) _ The executive in charge of Microsoft Corp.'s search efforts acknowledged Tuesday that the company's "Live" brand for search and online services leaves much to be desired. Now that Microsoft has abandoned its $47.5 billion takeover bid for competitor Yahoo Inc., its marketing team is working on fixing Microsoft's search image to make it more competitive with Google Inc., Kevin Johnson, president of Microsoft's platforms and services division said at a search advertising conference in Seattle hosted by the parent company of news site SearchEngineLand.com.

Intel unveils chip at Taiwan tech showTAIPEI, Taiwan (AP) _ Intel Corp. on Tuesday unveiled a new processor it says will revolutionize the information technology industry by powering small laptops at low cost. Intel Asia Pacific Vice president and General Manager Navin Shenoy said the Atom processor will enable millions more people around the world to access the Internet.

EU sees security threats lurking in printersBRUSSELS, Belgium (AP) _ Printers and copiers could be the weak link in many corporate cyber defenses, the European Union's information security agency warned Tuesday. The EU said companies are often unaware of the dangers posed by printers that are connected to the Internet, which can serve as conduits to penetrate networks or a window to stored documents.

Spiralfrog.com to offer downloads from EMI artistsLOS ANGELES (AP) _ SpiralFrog Inc., which operates an ad-supported, free music and video download Web site, said Monday it will soon begin offering content from Coldplay, Keith Urban and other recording artists as part of a new licensing deal with EMI Music. Terms of the deal between the New York-based company and Britain-based EMI Music, a unit of EMI Group PLC, were not disclosed.

New documents illuminate Yahoo-Microsoft sagaSAN FRANCISCO (AP) _ Yahoo Inc. Chief Executive Jerry Yang pushed for an employee severance program that made it more expensive for Microsoft Corp. to engineer a takeover even after an outside consultant questioned the plan's generous benefits, according to previously sealed documents in a shareholder lawsuit against Yahoo. The details about the severance program and other information about Yahoo's efforts to thwart Microsoft's takeover bid became available Monday after a Delaware judge released redacted portions of a shareholder complaint filed last month after Microsoft withdrew an oral offer to buy Yahoo for $47.5 billion, or $33 per share.
