Performance Technologies Releases Voice Media Platforms
(Wireless News Via Acquire Media NewsEdge)
Performance Technologies , a developer of communication platforms and
systems, announced the availability of the company's Voice Media
Platforms (VMPs), a family of pre-integrated development platforms for
telecommunication network equipment manufacturers.
The company said the platforms provide a robust combination of
Performance Technologies' hardware and software for developing
multimedia applications and offer significant time-to-market advantages
through the pre-integration of all platform elements.
The VMP family provides an ideal foundation for new interactive and
multimedia applications that are driving revenue opportunities for
telecommunication services such as Voice over IP (VoIP), audio
conferencing, interactive voice response (IVR), voice and fax
messaging, or any application requiring bridging between PSTN and IP
networks.
The VMPs are available in a number of preconfigured platforms that
include a 4U, 7U, or 12U NEBS-compliant chassis. This scalable approach
offers telecom equipment manufacturers a choice of platform and system
design configuration options to best meet their requirements, including
capacity for up to 13,824 voice ports fully loaded.
The 12U VMP option (VMP121S) comes standard with the following
components:
-- Fourteen pre-integrated Media Blades with T1/E1/J1 network
connectivity and voice processing technology for a total of 10,572
G.711 ports
-- NexusWare, the company's Carrier Grade Linux OS and development
environment
-- Two, dual-core single board computers
-- 2TB RAID storage blade
-- Redundant Ethernet switches and Intelligent Shelf Managers
-- IPMI enabled power supplies
-- Flexible wireless and wireline voice coding support that includes
G.711, G.726, G.723.1A, G.729A/B, AMR, EVRC, and QCELP
"We're offering these new Voice Media Platforms to meet customer
requests for a cost-effective approach to transition older, legacy TDM
network systems to emerging VoIP technologies," said Performance
Technologies' Director of Product Management Hank Heneghan.
"Applications can be developed on the VMPs to meet any need ranging
from a small to large deployment. With the significant amount of
pre-integration already provided, applications can be up and running in
a short amount of time."
According to a release, system architects and design engineers needing
advanced, compute-intensive embedded solutions can meet with
Performance Technologies representatives at several upcoming events
including the Embedded Systems Conference in Boston, October 28-29, and
MILCOM 2008 in San Diego, November 17-19.
