Young Seabees Demonstrate "Can Do" Pride

Nov 13, 2008 (DEFENSE DEPARTMENT DOCUMENTS AND PUBLICATIONS/ContentWorks via COMTEX) --
CAMP ARIFJAN, Kuwait (NNS) -- From excavation to installing light fixtures, four Seabees from Naval Mobile Construction Battalion (NMCB) 4 refurbished a critical information communications facility at Camp Arifjan, Kuwait, giving young Seabees a chance to showcase their talents.

These Seabees are wiring a state-of-the art building that will be a communications hub for service members deployed here.

"It's a good project for new electricians, like me, to wire a building from the ground up," said Constructionman Nathan Gordon. "Not too many constructionmen get the practice they need, and I feel this project prepares me for other tasks that may come."

"It feels good to build such an important building on this base," said Builder 3rd Class James Miskimen, crew leader. "The Army chose us to do the job, and that feels good knowing that other branches of the service trust us to do the job correctly. I think that speaks volumes about how the Seabees work. It is no secret that the Seabees work hard every single day, and that they pour their hearts into their jobs."

It took NMCB 4 five weeks to create this communications center, turning the completed project over on Oct. 6.

NMCB 4 is currently on a six-month deployment supporting CENTCOM construction requirements.
