"I am thrilled to welcome Doug to the EPIX team as a head programmer," said Greenberg. "I've known Doug for many years and we had the opportunity to work together earlier in our careers at HBO, so I know firsthand just how impactful he can be in an organization. Doug has great instincts and is exactly the kind of strategic forward thinking professional that is essential in this important role. Doug's track record in creating successful new businesses combined with his studio experience at both MGM and 20th Century Fox and his cable experience at HBO makes him an ideal executive to oversee programming acquisition and scheduling at EPIX."

Prior to joining EPIX, Lee served as Executive Vice President Worldwide Digital Media at MGM where he oversaw the studio's entrance into the digital world. He negotiated the studio's first digital deals with Apple (News - Alert) iTunes, and Netflix among others. As the first executive hired at the studio by former MGM Chairman, Harry Sloan, Lee capitalized on his cable background while at thestudio to develop the business plan and oversee the 2008 launch of MGM HD. While at MGM, Lee also served as a key member of MGM's executive team that helped create the EPIX venture along with partners Paramount Pictures (News - Alert) and Lionsgate.

Before MGM, Lee held executive posts at various media companies including HBO, 20th Century Fox, Universal Television, and Children's Television Workshop working both domestically and internationally. His career highlights include spearheading News Corp's (News - Alert) acquisition of Star-TV, the leading satellite platform in Asia; creating Noggin, the first educational television channel, a joint venture between Nickelodeon and Children's Television Workshop; launching HD Cinema for Voom, the HD satellite service; founding CRIME, a broadband service he started up with John Langley, "COPS" Creator and Executive Producer which they later sold to USA; channel startups at Sky TV U.K., Canal Fox in Latin America, and at HBO in the U.S.

"Joining EPIX is in many ways like coming home. It's a company I have worked on since its creation and at its heart is the intersection of the studio and cable worlds, which is a perfect fit for my experience and the worlds in which I am well versed," said Lee. "I am excited to be a part of the EPIX team and contribute to all the success they will continue to have in the future."

Trained as a journalist and attorney, Lee graduated from the University of California, Berkeley and Georgetown University Law Center.
