Research and Markets: State of FTTx Worldwide 1H 2014: Markets at Q4 2013 & Forecasts to 2018

DUBLIN --(Business Wire)--

Research and Markets (http://www.researchandmarkets.com/research/tf9lz9/state_of_fttx) has announced the addition of the "State of FTTx Worldwide 1H 2014: Markets at December 2013 & Forecasts to 2018" report to their offering.

The ultrafast broadband sector is divided into three main wireline architectures:

- FTTH/B: this architecture stands for Fibre to the Home/Building.

- FTTN+VDSL: includes Fibre to the Node + VDSL and VDSL2 technologies.

- FTTx/D3.0 comprises several architectures, depending on cablecos network topology.

It corresponds to coaxial-based netwoks where the fibre optic is either deployed up to a point generally located before the building, and/or the Docsis 3.0 standard has been implemented in the central node of the cable operator networks to enable the provision of higher speed rates. It is important to note that depending on the topology of their network (in particular the number of households per final node), cable operators do not always expand the fibre optic part of the infrastructure. In that case, the implementation of DOCSIS 3.0 equipment is enough to ensure that end users will benefit from 30 Mbps or higher speed rates.

The counting method is as follows:

- Homes Passed represent the premises able to be connected with limited installation among which end-user equipment

- Subscribers represent connected homes which have contracted a subscription with a service provider

The ratio calculation method is as follows:

- The take-up rate measures the share of subscribers among the number of Homes Passed in one country or for one player.

- The coverage rate represents the share of Homes Passed among the total number of households in a country.

Key Topics Covered:

1. EXECUTIVE SUMMARY

2. METHODOLOGY

3. ACCESS

4. MAJOR PLAYERS

5. FTTX SERVICES AND PRICING STRATEGIES
