IneoQuest Launches Industry's Most Comprehensive Video Service Assurance Platform

BOSTON, April 18, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- IneoQuest Technologies, the global leader in video quality and audience behavioral intelligence solutions, today announced the launch of its FoQus™ platform solutions portfolio, a comprehensive suite of data acquisition and analytics elements that enables video providers to gain the critical visibility into playback quality and viewer behavior that they need to effectively operate their over-the-top (OTT) and IPTV video businesses. The FoQus platform offers solutions to serve a variety of different markets, including content owners, OTT event producers, network operators and service providers, and enterprises who are embracing video to propel their businesses.

IneoQuest Technologies

Designed specifically to provide video service assurance across the entire video distribution chain and offer insights to increase audience engagement, FoQus platform products provide intelligence and visibility across the entire video distribution value chain, enabling the consistent and reliable delivery of streaming video. In an era where cord cutting is on the rise and consumers are moving away from traditional TV services, a proactive approach to video quality assurance is essential. The advanced analytics within the FoQus platform ensure the delivery of a more reliable, consistent, enjoyable viewing experience to consumers.

FoQus platform products are available in multiple formats, including both appliance and virtualized software packages for use in NFV/SDN and cloud-based environments. FoQus platform products fall into two major groups: Acquisition elements which collect data, and Collection and Processing elements which aggregate the data from the Acquisition elements, correlate it into common program flows, and provide multi-dimensional processing, presentation, alarming, and report generation of the correlated data.

Three families of Acquisition products are offered, to align with the measurement requirements at different points in the video distributin chain:

  • Inspector elements measure the quality of content preparation before it enters the network, and are well-suited to head-ends, origin services infrastructure, and video testing labs.
  • Surveyor elements measure network performance and content availability across networks, including managed IPTV networks, Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), fixed and mobile access networks, and unmanaged networks like the Internet.
  • Spectator elements measure the playback quality and the viewer's response to it. Metrics include the selected content, session time, network type and provider, and key quality metrics such as startup time, bitrate, and rebuffering.

The FoQus platform's modular iQ Engines collect, correlate, and process this data to provide the comprehensive "big picture" views that video providers require to manage their business. Different iQ Engines are offered based on the area of analysis they provide – audience analytics or operational analytics - so that customers can meet their current needs, and obtain new modules as needed later.

IneoQuest is also offering a subscription-based FoQus|Event service to address the needs of content owners streaming events over the internet. This service, which leverages Amazon EC2 cloud infrastructure to dynamically position FoQus platform elements as needed, can be used to test the video distribution system prior to the actual event, and monitor the performance, quality and availability during the actual streaming event. Easily scalable in response to viewer demand, FoQus|Event delivers a flexible, "pay as you go" solution, and does not require hardware deployment or software integration within applications or players.

"The FoQus platform portfolio was created to address the industry need for solutions that proactively focus on quality and performance," said Joel Daly, VP Product Management, IneoQuest. "Our customers are in constant need of actionable intelligence that can help them make effective decisions across various aspects of their video businesses, from issue identification, diagnosis and cost reduction to driving greater viewer engagement. With FoQus, we have applied our broad experience in video-specific measurement to create modular software-based products that can be combined immediately or incrementally over time into a comprehensive end-to-end solution that helps video providers gain this intelligence, when and where they need it."

IneoQuest's launch of the FoQus platform portfolio signifies its commitment to a video industry undergoing fundamental changes. In acknowledgement of this seismic change, IneoQuest has changed its company logo for the first time since its founding 15 years ago.
