Video Professor Founder's Latest Product is a Blast

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz., Jan. 16, 2018 /PRNewswire/ -- John W. Scherer, known to millions as the Video Professor, has been out of the public eye since selling his computer tutorial company a few years ago.

Canless Air System founder John W. Scherer

He was such a fixture on cable TV commercials that he became a household name and even late night hosts like Jimmy Kimmel and Jay Leno mentioned him during their monologues. With the commercials gone, Scherer has fallen out of the public view but his new product could make him famous all over again.

It all started when Scherer was approached to be the spokesperson for the Canless Air System O2 Hurricane, a canned air replacement. You know, those toxic blasters with the little red straws used to dust off everything from computer keyboards to factory equipment? The ones that freeze your hands from the propellant inside, and often spew a mysterious chemical residue on whatever you're dusting? The O2 Hurricane is an electronic, rechargeable version of computer duster which solves those problems and more using just air.

Scherer liked the product so much that instead of becoming the spokesperson, he bought the company. "It's like a Category 5 hurricane in your hand," he explaine.

With the Hurricane, a rechargeable battery does everything canned air can do without but it does it in a better way, without creating hazardous waste. It just uses the air you breathe and cannot be huffed like traditional canned air which can be fatal. Other warnings printed on the traditional cans range from frostbite to flammability but there are none of those with the line of Canless Air System products.

The Hurricane is one of those things you can't believe hasn't been invented until now, particularly given the costs and hazards of the canned air it is designed to replace. It's green, it cuts costs, and it's made in America.

Scherer insisted on making the O2 Hurricane here to create jobs. "It was absolutely part of the deal," he said. "If it cost me twice what it cost overseas, I would have done it but it didn't increase the cost."

It was daunting finding manufacturers in the United States but Scherer persisted and now the entire line of Canless Air System dusters are now proudly made and assembled in Wisconsin and Tucson, Arizona.

The Hurricane line of dusters, available online, range in price from $99.95 to $149.95. Scherer says one unit replaces at least 500 air cans that typically sell for nearly $10 apiece.

When you do the math on a large scale, there are millions of dollars to be saved. Scherer says the product has been a hit and is currently being used by over half of all Fortune 500 companies and dozens of governmental agencies.

When asked what he would tell companies that are not using it yet, Scherer had this message: "CFOs need to check the line item on canned air and see how much they spend on it. It will stagger them. And after they look at that number they will realize what do they have to lose? They should try my product!"
