IP Video Phones Come with Collaboration Solution

By Erik Linask

One of the difficulties facing network and communications managers is the variety of solutions and products from which to choose — not to mention the number of different vendors for any single product type. Now, LiteScape Technologies and Cisco have collaborated to eliminate one of those extraneous tasks: LiteScape’s collaboration applications are now available on the new, video-enabled Cisco 7985G series IP phones.

LiteScape enhances the value of IP-based networks through secure, personalized collaboration and communication solutions by combining communications-enabling telephones with interactive voice, text, and image capabilities. The company’s products provide VoIP Collaboration solutions for personalization and security.

Cisco Unified IP Phone 7985G is a personal desktop videophone that enables instant, face-to-face communications. It integrates all the necessary components to initiate a successful video call — camera, LCD screen, speaker, keypad, and handset — all in a single unit. In addition to the standard VoIP features, the 7985G also offers dedicated0020buttons for controlling video features, like self view, PIP, video mute, display, and brightness.

LiteScape collaboration solutions deliver greater functionality to this cutting edge device, thereby improving overall efficiency and effectiveness of the communications system — is also means one additional product set customers need not concern themselves with, as it is preloaded into the phones. LiteScape’s applications allow callers to search all corporate directories, with the push of a single button join or initiate a conference call, send multi-media files for discussion, or access inventory information.  Also available is the LiteScape Secure Personal Authentication Reader (SPAR), which can be attached to any Cisco IP device to provide identity management for personalization and security via RFID, magnetic card, smartcard, and biometric authentication.

“We've extended our solutions to Cisco’s 7985 series phones to take advantage of the latest IP technology from Cisco,” said Kayvan Alikhani, LiteScape’s executive vice president of product management and development.  “LiteScape applications combined with these state of the art phones increase end user productivity and build customer loyalty through personalized communication.”
