YFonGlobal, an Internet media company and VoIP provider, announced it has raised $1.5 million in seed funding and has closed $2 million in contract commitments. The funding closes its seed funding round, which is comprised of private investors from a number of industries including information technology, data communications, media and telecommunications.

Active YFonGlobal investors include Patrick A. Gross, who is the founder of American Management Systems, which is now part of CGI. Gross serves on the Board of Directors of Capital One, Hibernia National Bank, Computer Career Education Corporation, Mobius Management Systems, Inc. Liquidity Services, Inc., as well as the Aspen Institute.

John Hibbard, Telstra Global Wholesales former managing director, is also an investor. He was responsible for the international carrier business worldwide for Australia’s largest telephone company. Hibbard is also on the Executive Board of the Pacific Telecommunications Council and was Chairman of the Australia Japan Cable.

Additional investors include Thomas Hudson, former chairman and CEO of Computer Network Technology Corporation (CNT), acquired by McData. Hudson serves on the Board of Directors of McData, as well as Incentra, Plato Learning Software, Ciprico, and Lawson Software.

“As many of us have known for some time, YFonGlobals CEO, Marian Sabety, is an outstanding leader who is uncanny at seeing the big picture and driving immediate solutions to the critical issues that she finds in her way,” said Lawrence A. McLernon, founder and CEO of LCI and a YFonGlobal investor. LCI was long-distance services provider that was sold to QWEST Communications Corp. He is now YFonGlobal’s chairman. “Marian’s focus is on the convergence of VoIP with IP-based media using a platform that rapidly scales. I predict that this technology will transform the way work groups and communities will communicate, learn, and be entertained over the Internet. I strongly believe YFonGlobal is at the right place, at the right time, with the right team to leverage the convergence of Internet telephony and Internet marketing.”

“YFonGlobal represents real forward thinking, as it leverages the exploding VoIP market drivers with high value online collaboration applications. I view this as a winning combination of technology, timing, and market interest,” said Pat Gross.

“We are honored by the confidence placed in our team by these communications technology industry luminaries,” added Marian Sabety, CEO of YFonGlobal. “Our technology platform is second to none for creating scalable, turn-key VoIP services delivery platforms. Our clients can turn up and sell their own branded end-to-end VoIP services in as little as 10 working days.”
