Covad on Business VoIP and Broadband Deal with VGE

Voice and data communications provider Covad Communications announced it struck a deal with Venture Group Enterprises (VGE), a telecom marketing agency. The partnership will enable VGE's network of distribution partners to sell Covad's (News - Alert) VoIP and broadband systems to small businesses.

"Covad's partnership validates the solid channels we provide. Covad now has access to more than 300 master agents and more than 6000 sales agents through VGE," said VGE's president Doug Turpin in a statement released on Thursday. "Covad's national network, portfolio of business-class voice and data solutions, professional, technical and sales expertise, and singular focus on the small business customer all combine to make Covad a leader in the industry."

Today's announcement comes on the heels of Covad introducing an IP-based voice and data offering for small to medium businesses (SMBs) that bundles Covad's ClearEdge Integrated Access and Cisco's Unified CallManager Express.

The customer-managed IP Communications service is based on Cisco's Unified CallManager Express and it features an auto attendant, night service bell, call logging, caller ID, call monitoring, call forwarding, call pickup, dual-line appearances, and hunt groups. The system also provides SMBs with other capabilities such as video telephony, rich-media conferencing, unified messaging and softphone integration.
