Sunrise Telecom CM3800 Accelerates Cable Operators' Delivery of Service

By Raja Singh Chaudhary, TMCnet Contributor

Sunrise Telecom, Inc., a provider of test and measurement solutions for telecom, cable and wireless networks, will launch CM3800, a new cable network analyzer.

Apart from offering enhanced field spectrum analysis, the new solution also enables the essential testing of DOCSIS 3.0 networks to help cable operators in their efforts to grow their market share for broadband services delivered to small- and medium-sized business.

The San Jose, Calif.-based company provides a range of solutions that enable service providers to deliver premium voice, video, data and next-generation digital multimedia services in a quick and reliable manner, and distributes its products through direct sales force as well as an extensive network of sales representatives.

It has now become a mandatory practice for a number of small and medium-sized businesses to transfer and upload huge amounts of data everyday, which exerts more load on the upstream path. Therefore, cable operators need to reduce upstream ingress and test and measure the channel bonding capabilities used by DOCSIS 3.0 services in order to successfully meet the expectations of the customer of these commercial services.

The advanced field spectrum analyzer offered by the CM3800 approaches across the entire 1,000 MHz bandwidth of network spectrum in one screen, offers a comprehensive analysis of the network to the technicians, which helps them assess the cable network infrastructure quickly and smoothly. The solution also enables them to identify network impairments such as ingress that impact video, voice and broadband data services more accurately, so that the technicians can reduce network outages and optimize service delivery effectively.

Seamlessly integrating with the Sunrise Telecom (News - Alert) realGATE Workflow Management Tool, a comprehensive Web-based management system, the new CM3800 helps in management of assets and test results while optimizing workflow. realGATE can be accessed from any place through a standard browser, and helps connecting to the back office system and maximizing test consistency. Additionally, the solution also helps cable operators in quickly diagnosing area-wide issues apart from local impairments so that they can achieve most out of service verification.

According to Bahaa Moukadam (News - Alert), chief executive officer at Sunrise Telecom, as cable operators ramp up their deployment of business and bundled services, customers are placing more demands on their networks, especially in the upstream. Moukadam noted that the CM3800 provides the cable operators with the comprehensive, cost effective and easy-to-use tools they need to efficiently and accurately verify the capabilities of their next-generation high-speed data services and find impairments before they affect the customer experience.

In July, Sunrise Telecom announced that its XTT 5000 handheld device had been deployed by a tier one European telecommunications carrier. The company stated that the solution, a lightweight field test system that has been designed specifically to speed installation and maintenance of carrier-grade Ethernet and IP services, was selected by the company to be used for installation and maintenance of both 1 GigE and 10 GigE networks.
