ARRIS to Power Cable Europe's 'Broadband Village' at Cable Congress 2011

Communication technology company ARRIS unveiled its plan to participate at this year's Cable Congress to be held in Lucerne, Switzerland, Feb. 15-17.

For the second year in a row, ARRIS will be the exclusive technology provider for the Cable Europe Broadband Village, a demonstration area featuring the converged customer services of tomorrow delivered via cable.

Cable Congress is an event that offers a clear insight into the technologies, services and business models available today enabling the participants to understand both opportunities and challenges associated. Cable Congress is organized by Cable Europe, a trade association that groups all leading broadband cable TV operators and their national trade associations throughout Europe.

As stated, this year's Broadband Village will reveal a vision of cable's personalized, multi-screen, whole home customer experience for cable operators, regulators and Congress attendees.

In Cable Europe's Broadband Village, ARRIS has been selected to display the in-home cable and Internet service experience of the future, featuring its Whole Home Solution with Media Gateway (News - Alert) delivering triple play cable services as well as a wide variety of over-the-top services from the Internet.

Additionally, ARRIS said it has plans to demonstrate a Web-based multi-screen user experience that delivers content of choice to the consumer's device of choice while generating new revenue opportunities via targeted advertising. These applications will be enabled through the ARRIS ConvergeMedia Management suite and XMS video distribution system and the Whole Home Gateway and Media players.

Bob Stanzione, chairman and chief executive officer at ARRIS Chairman will speak on the panel titled: “'The Video Business and How Content Finds its Audience (News - Alert),” and Mike Emmendorfer senior director of Advanced Technology will present on: “The Road to IP: Network Access Evolution.”

In related news, ARRIS announced that in conjunction with SK Broadband Inc., South Korea's leading integrated telecommunications company, it has successfully bonded 16 Downstream channels to deliver data throughput speeds of up to 800 Mbps in SK Broadband's labs, using an ARRIS C4(R) CMTS with Software Release 7.4 and an SK Broadband 16x4 modem.
