Shanghai Qianjin Electronics Selects ANADIGICS' CATV Hybrid Line Amplifiers

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Shanghai Qianjin Electronics has selected ANADIGICS to provide analog and digital video, as well as high-speed data services to its customers. The company will make use of ANADIGICS’ CATV hybrid line amplifiers for this purpose.

Because of ANADIGICS’ hybrid line amplifier performance and reliability advantages, Shanghai Qianjin Electronics has decided to select the company as a key supplier for its optical node products, the company stated. ANADIGICS Hybrid Line Amplifier provides optimal performance in a fully-loaded spectrum with low composite triple beat (CTB), composite second order (CSO), cross modulation, and noise figure distortion characteristics, a release stated.

With ANADIGICS products, companies can design set-top boxes (STBs), digital video recorders (DVRs) / personal video recorders (PVRs), cable modems and television tuners faster and easier.

“We are extremely pleased that Shanghai Qianjin Electronics has selected ANADIGICS' hybrid line amplifiers for its optical receiver product line," said Michael Canonico, vice president of Worldwide Sales, at ANADIGICS. "Our hybrid line amplifiers lead the industry in ruggedness and reliability, helping service providers to minimize costly field repairs. We look forward to working closely with Shanghai Qianjin Electronics on the design of future CATV infrastructure products.”

Hybrid amplifier blocks will show steady growth through 2014, forecasted a report published by Strategy Analytics (News - Alert), in November 2010. With a forecasted compounded average annual growth rate (CAAGR) of nearly 43 percent from 2009 to 2014, the fastest growing CATV infrastructure segment will be amplifiers for high-definition capable networks, claims the report. Shanghai Qianjin Electronics has developed optical receiver products for both established and emerging CATV markets, by working closely with ANADIGICS.

In February 2010, Novatel Wireless, a company providing wireless broadband access solutions for use in portable personal computers, handheld computing and mobile devices, selected ANADIGICS’ WCDMA/HSPA and EDGE power amplifiers (PAs) for two new wireless HSPA+ Mobile Broadband USB modems. HSPA+ is the next evolution of high-speed packet access (HSPA) wireless broadband technology, offering greater capacity for data throughput compared to current 3G networks.
