Cheetah Technologies Debuts V-Factor Stream Probe QAM LD

By Jayashree Adkoli, TMCnet Contributor

Cheetah Technologies, a provider of network performance and video quality management solutions, announced the debut of three tuner video QAM monitoring solution, V-Factor Stream Probe QAM LD (VF-SP QAM LD), for the cable industry.

Being the first advanced three-tuner QAM monitoring solution for cable industry, the new Cheetah V-Factor Stream Probe QAM LD has the capability to augment accuracy and scalability while monitoring digital video QoE with CableCard decryption.

Available immediately, the new three tuner video QAM monitoring solution integrates a three-tuner QAM device with CableCard Decryption and Cheetah's V-Factor video quality monitoring technology such as "Intelligent Decode." This will facilitate cable system operators to verify video quality at the hub site just before the programs are transmitted to the home.

Jeremy Bennington, VP and GM of Cheetah V-Factor, said in a statement, “With its dedicated three tuners and decryption capability, V-Factor Stream Probe QAM LD offers operators the unique ability to automate QoE monitoring in the cable plant.”

Enabling operators to cost effectively scale QAM monitoring in the hub site of both commercial and residential video services, the new V-Factor Stream Probe QAM LD has the capability to maximize monitoring coverage through a smart and flexible scheduling algorithm assigning the channel lineup across units and tuners.

At the same time, the VF-SP QAM LD makes sure that users retain control over tuner usage for troubleshooting purposes. In order to provide an end-to-end view of video quality of experience, the results got from the solution are collected in Cheetah Q-Advisor and correlated amongst VF-SP QAM LD devices and IP-based V-Factor solutions

The Cheetah Q-Advisor helps Network Operations Center (NOC (News - Alert)) technicians with numerous ways to visualize the network and service status from status pages presenting events ranked according to their impact on subscribers, to geographical views or remote streaming to the NOC of the video received at the cable plant.

Bennington added, “In combination to V-Factor solutions in the headend, VF-Stream Probe QAM LD provides the visibility necessary for operators to decide when dispatching a technician is required, dramatically decreasing the cost of isolating and resolving quality issues.”

Last year, TMCnet had reported Cheetah’s collaboration with the National Cable Television Cooperative (NCTC), in order to accelerate the availability of Cheetah products and solutions to NCTC members.
