Clearfield Unveils FieldSmart Small Count Delivery to Reduce Labor Cost

By Rajani Baburajan, TMCnet Contributor

Clearfield (News - Alert), a provider of fiber management solutions, announced the launch of FieldSmart Small Count Delivery (SCD) Case to provide configuration flexibility in the last mile access point.

SCD is an innovative and intuitive modular enclosure system that provides for any drop cable media in all application environments. It is built with the modularity that allows for placement on strand, pole, above-grade pedestal, or below-grade level vault environments, according to company officials.

The modular approach of the FieldSmart SCD Case removes the cable management bulkhead for cable prep, termination or splicing in a conditioned environment such as a splice trailer.

This single enclosure system designed for any deployment topology offers broadband service providers the key to reducing installation and maintenance costs in the access network.

While the FieldSmart SCD Case supports all industry standard drop cable media, it has been optimized for utilization with the Miniflex QuikPush assembly, according to company officials.

Clearfield  is the only North American manufacturer authorized to connectorize the Miniflex assembly. The association between Clearfield and Miniflex simplifies field installation with a pushable (rather than the more traditional pulled) design.

The solution, when deployed with the CraftSmart Fiber Protection (FP) line of pedestals and vaults, sets the standard for integrated fiber protection and management. It is offered through fiber-enabled Clearview xPAK.

Recently Clearfield announced the launch of FiberDeep, a new class of fiber patchcords that guarantees performance at .2dB insertion loss — fully half that of the industry standard.
