A pioneer of DVR technology, TiVo (News - Alert) Inc, which claims to take home entertainment to the next level by bringing entertainment from cable and the web together in one place, revealed the findings of its "Turn on the Love" survey. According to the survey, TiVo helps improve relationship between couples.
The survey brought out many more interesting facts.
Although the definition of romance varies with individual users, 73 percent of TiVo respondents said that romance improved in their lives after buying the TiVo device. 5 percent TiVo users have even reported it has improved their sex life.
At many homes, where there is a TiVo DVR system, remote control wars are nearing the end.
“We record all of the shows that we watch regularly. TiVo has made watching television far more enjoyable, since we can now watch shows we're actually interested in anytime. It has eliminated disputes about watching one show versus another since we can record multiple shows at once (we have 3 TiVos!),” an anonymous TiVo respondent said in the survey.
“Using TiVo's access to music and movies increases a couple's exposure to entertainment and pop culture which are light, but very real topics for a couple to bond over on a daily basis. In home entertainment certainly helps busy couples turn off daily stresses and create a romantic date night in,” renowned comedian and co-author of "He's Just Not that into You," Greg Behrendt reasoned in a statement.
In the press release, TiVo announced that it is going to celebrate its ability to improve relationships by hosting the TiVo Date Night In Sweepstakes. One lucky winner will receive a prize pack that consists of a TiVo Premiere DVR; one year of free TiVo service; one TiVo wireless G network adapter; flowers from 1-800-Flowers.com delivered to the winner's significant other valued at $100; and a $100 gift certificate to Restaurant.com for the couple's romantic dinner.
Interested couples seeking to try their luck at the sweepstakes are invited to visit facebook.com/tivo for the entry.
TiVo, Dish Network and EchoStar announced that they have settled all of their ongoing patent litigation.Under the terms of the settlement, Dish Network and EchoStar agreed to pay TiVo $500 million, including an initial payment of $300 million with the remaining $200 million distributed in six equal annual installments between 2012 and 2017.
