Civolution and SeaChange Partner to Enable Premium VOC for Cable Services

By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Distribution collaboration and integration of Civolution and SeaChange has been announced in order to assist with video-on-demand or VOD NexGuard forensic watermarking services. Cable operators have been vying to launch their Home Premier services and grant entry to early window content, which requires the specified mandate as per Hollywood studios. This has been helped along by the partnership between SeaChange International (News - Alert) Civolution.

In a release, Paul de Bot, general manager for Back Office and Monetization at SeaChange said that, “Our partnership accelerates time-to-market for cable MSOs that want to launch premium VOD services with early release content from Hollywood studios. By working with Civolution, a leader in forensic watermarking for Hollywood digital movie content, we offer a safe choice for our customers who are increasingly requesting SeaChange to provide watermarking technology as part of its solutions offering.”

Alex Terpstra, CEO of Civolution said that, “We look forward to our partnership with SeaChange and to integrate our watermarking technology with SeaChange's widely deployed VOD solutions. NexGuard forensic watermarking solutions are already in operations worldwide in digital cinema systems, hospitality markets and direct to home (DTH) satellite operations. The technology is proven and meets the studios requirements for Home Premiere content, released ahead of DVD and Blu-ray Disc. The combined solution will help SeaChange customers worldwide to launch attractive new services in their existing or new VOD platforms for cable and TV everywhere.”

The pre-processing option from the NexGuard application has enabled highly efficient content ingestion operations, thereby making it available as a transparent stand-alone app for pre-processing content previously prepared for cable distribution, or as a transcoder plug-in. When streaming in an MPEG-2 or a H.264 environment, the NexGuard app for the cable VOD service allows for integration ease, high performance, and scalability, thanks to the pre-processing phase.
