New Suite by thePlatform Enables Operators to Extend Value of Subscription

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

White-label video publisher and TVE pioneer, thePlatform (News - Alert), recently announced its next generation ‘TV Everywhere’ suite is capable of enabling TV service providers to extend the value of subscriptions across more devices. The new features of the suite let operators build highly tailored content packages and promotions and encourage subscribers to buy those packages via tablets, PCs and other devices.

thePlatform asserted that it provides the tools one needs to bring consumers’ TV subscriptions from TV service providers to programming networks. Its authentication and authorization technologies handle all end-user entitlement processes while honoring TV service providers’ and networks’ agreed-to content rights.

One of the notable new features packed with the TV Everywhere suite is the ‘mpx’ video publishing system – a complete video management system offering enterprise-class performance and easy publishing ability to PCs, mobile phones and TVs. It has provisions to dynamically update a providers’ channel as soon as new content is added and also helps them set ad policies.

The mpx system can also be used to transcode encrypt and move files within the network and it features a central repository for metadata surrounding a video including categories, keywords, tags, asset types and more.

The TV Everywhere suite now has the capability to acquire content packages that are available with linear TV or video-on-demand (VOD) catalogs in order to be viewed on tablets, PCs or other IP-connected devices.

“Our new TV Everywhere features provide powerful tools to make that possible,” stated Ian Blaine, CEO and co-founder of thePlatform. “With the challenge of authentication largely behind us, and more content available than ever before, the industry can shift to creating even more customized entertainment packages. These dynamic new mpx tools enable operators to create their own criteria for grouping content and subscribers – from history buffs to fans of a particular series – and will create innovative marketing opportunities.”
