Enseo Sets Out to Improve the Hospitality Viewing Experience

By Susan J. Campbell, TMCnet Contributing Editor

The television viewing experience for any traveler seeking the local news, sports or preferred entertainment channels, while on the road, has been known to be less than stellar. Too often, the traveler is lost in the confusion of some channels and the lack of others, frustrated at the provider and even the hotel.

Enseo has introduced what they believe is an optimal solution. The company’s CableCARD product is designed specifically for the hospitality industry and expands on the company’s expertise in marketing platforms for in-room entertainment and digital signage.

To get the inside scoop directly from Enseo, TMC’s Erik Linask (News - Alert) caught up with Vanessa Ogle, CEO of Enseo, at The Cable Show 2012, in Boston. Their conversation was captured in this video interview, as Ogle provides the details on this latest innovation and how it impacts the traveler and the hospitality industry.

The company’s set-back box, the HD4000, is designed to allow hotels to offer travelers a full cable-channel lineup, as well as a hotel-branded welcome page, and interactive program guide. While this new device enhances the experience for the traveler, it also has the potential for use in retail and educational venues, or stadiums and arenas.

Why the push to change the viewing experience in the hotel? Until now, the delivery of HD cable content to hotels has been limited as a result of the costs associated with encryption requirements. Enseo eliminates the need for specialized encryption equipment, allowing for the delivery of those channels most in demand by regular hotel travelers.

“With the HD4000, Cable MSOs have a much more robust offering for the hospitality market,” said Ogle in a press release. “Many hotels would like to take advantage of HD cable programming, but due to the expense of specialized encryption, limited access to channels, and the lack of hotel branded messaging, they have either found more cost effective options than cable content or been unable to provide HD programming to guests. The Enseo platform greatly increases the desirability and value of HD cable content in the hospitality space.”

To learn how the addition of the HD4000 can benefit the hotelier, check out the TMC (News - Alert) interview above as Ogle provides great insight on this latest innovation can make a significant impact on the industry.
