Top-Tier Set-Top Box Manufacturers Select MaxLinear MxL603 Tuner

The MxL603 from MaxLinear provides low-power 65-nm digital CMOS process technology and supports numerous digital cable and terrestrial television reception standards, such as DVB-T/T2, ISDB-T, ATSC, ATSC M/H, DTMB, ITU J.83 Annex A/B/C, DVB-C2, DOCSIS and EuroDOCSIS. Companies can configure the solution for any of these standards, which allows them to re-use the same design in various markets.

Recently, the company announced that it has in excess of 40 confirmed design wins for its latest generation silicon TV tuner, the MxL603. Making it the perfect solution for various cable and terrestrial set-top box products, the MxL603 caters to all global cable and terrestrial broadcast specifications.

The MxL603 has been quickly used by virtually all major set-top box manufacturers, across a variety of market segments including, DVB-T2, DVB-T, ATSC, DTMB, ISDB-T and DVB-Company, because of its ability to support all global digital cable and terrestrial broadcast standards, the company stated in a press release.

“The MxL603 has been a huge success in the marketplace,” said Brian Sprague, vice president and general manager at MaxLinear. “It’s the ultimate combination of best-in-class performance with ultra-low power, design flexibility and very competitive pricing that makes the MxL603 extremely attractive to our set-top box customer base. Our digital CMOS technology is the key to delivering the low power consumption, high performance and small size that are major reasons we’ve had such great success in DVB-T2 set-top boxes.”

Recently, TMC (News - Alert) reported that the company’s MXL265/MXL267 Full Spectrum Capture cable receivers were used in the new DOCSIS 3.0 cable gateway alongside the Intel (News - Alert) Puma 6 chipset.
