GLDS Unveils Real-Time Subscriber Authorization Service for TV Everywhere

By Raju Shanbhag, TMCnet Contributor

Great Lakes Data Systems has announced the introduction of the fully integrated, real-time content authorization service for TV Everywhere, WinCAP.

While other vendors provide offline, stand-alone authentication solutions, GLDS is a billing vendor providing fully combined, real-time subscriber authorization, centralized account management, and centralized parental controls.  Customers can manage all of their TV Everywhere access from one centralized portal – the customer self-care portal, powered by GLDS with GLDS’ WinCAP content authorization platform.

From one centralized customer self-care portal, hosted by GLDS, WinCAP allows users to manage TV Everywhere access for all content providers. Unlike other offline, stand-alone authentication solutions that usually take hours to process, WinCAP's real-time authorization allows users access to multi-screen content instantly with no waiting.

Subscribers can manage TV Everywhere account management with the help of the same credentials they use to view and pay their bill, order PPV, view VoIP usage and upgrade services, because it's combined with GLDS' existing self-care portal, CableAnytime, the company stated in a press release.

“Our mission at GLDS has always been to help small operators look big and compete effectively with the same valuable service offerings provided by large operators, at a fraction of the price, and TV Everywhere plays a critical role in meeting that goal," said GLDS' president, Garrick Russell. "It's our belief that every operator, large or small, should have the ability to give their subscribers access to content, where they want it and when they want it.”

Recently, the company announced plans to demonstrate its cutting-edge cloud-based billing, subscriber management and provisioning system, and mobile workforce technologies at an event. GLDS was the first to facilitate smaller operators to inexpensively bill and manage converged services including digital video, IPTV (News - Alert), Internet and FTTH.
