LG Mobile USA and Cartoon Network Collaborate to Stop Bullying

By Nathesh, TMCnet Contributor

LG Mobile and Cartoon Network have reportedly teamed up in support of the Cartoon Network’s “Stop Bullying: Speak Up” campaign, launched to fight against bullying in communities across the nation.

According to Cartoon Network, the anti-bullying initiative seeks to raise awareness of the simple yet powerful actions that parents, kids and educators can take to prevent bullying.

The partnership of LG and Cartoon Network will be launched at this year’s LG U.S. National Texting Championship, the sixth annual LG event that awards a $50,000 cash prize to the texter with the quickest thumbs. LG announced that a special “text for a cause” round will encourage people to text a pledge in support of the anti-bullying campaign by texting ‘Join LG’ to 27777.

For every text pledge sent, LG promised that it will send $1 for the campaign.

LG’s Rosalind Wiseman will preside over the “text for a cause” event at the championship, and the money donated by LG will be used to distribute bullying prevention toolkits for middle schools and high schools across the U.S.

Bullying hurts kids and it can have a lasting and damaging impact on their lives – sometimes more than one realizes. The objective of the campaign is to stop bullying by encouraging teachers, kids, parents and educators to just speak up about the victims of bullying and letting other people know about it and help ensure it stops.

“As a committed corporate citizen, LG is partnering with Cartoon Network to support anti-bullying efforts and help inform teens and pre-teens about the importance of treating all people with respect,” said James Fishler, senior vice president of marketing and go-to-market operations at LG Electronics (News - Alert) USA. “By asking our audience to take a stand against all forms of bullying, including those that are becoming more prevalent in the digital space, we hope to raise awareness for the tools and steps available to all of us to help stop bullying in its tracks.”
