YOU On Demand Grows Subscriber-Base in China through Carriage Agreement with Hubei Cable

When it comes to enjoying both recent and classic Hollywood movies, millions of Chinese rely on YOU On Demand’s video on demand services.

In partnership with Hollywood's top studios including Warner Bros. Entertainment, Disney (News - Alert) Media Distribution, Paramount Pictures, Lionsgate, Miramax and Magnolia Pictures, YOU On Demand brings these movies to Chinese movie-lovers.

The company also offers a broad selection of the best content from independent and Chinese filmmakers to the Chinese audience.

In an effort to bring its services to more movie-enthusiasts across China, the company has signed a carriage agreement with cable operator, Hubei Chutian Radio & Television Information Network Company.

Hubei has 1.7 million subscribers in the cities of Wuhan, Yichang, Xiantao, Xianmen and Qianiiang. Thanks to the partnership, these subscribers will now have access to both YOU On Demand's Transactional Video On Demand (TVOD) and Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) packages.

With the addition of Hubei Cable, YOU On Demand is now available in 7.2 million homes, according to a recent statement.

YOU On Demand offers movies to customers across China through its near video on demand (NVOD), video on demand (VOD) and subscription video on demand (SVOD) services. The Company has alliances with media operators to offer comprehensive end-to-end content delivery solution.

Its offering also includes a billing solution, numerous governmental partnerships and approvals, and value-added services.

“We are thrilled to have Hubei Cable join the roster of cable operators in China that are partnering with YOU On Demand. We look forward to providing their customers with the best in home entertainment,” said Shane McMahon, chairman and CEO for YOU On Demand.

A few months ago, China Cablecom Holdings, Ltd. reported that the company's joint venture partner, Hubei Chutian Radio & Television Information Network Company Limited, agreed to purchase its Hubei assets for a total of RMB 374 million.
