BICSI, Concert Technologies Team for Cabling Icon Contest

By Shankar Pandiath, TMCnet Contributor

Concert Technologies recently signed a marketing agreement with BICSI (News - Alert) to improve the Information Technology System (ITS) industry by enhancing the standards of information, education and knowledge assessment.

The company is one of the largest technology rollout organizations in the world and the first step of this venture is the contest which it has recently launched called Cabling Icon. This interactive, social media-based contest was created with the objective of finding the best information technology system (ITS) installer or technician.

BICSI is a professional association supporting the information technology systems (ITS) industry. ITS covers a wide spectrum of voice, data, electronic safety and security verticals, as well as audio and video technologies.

The contest is in its second season and offers tremendous opportunities for the contenders involved. The winners of the contest will be able to apply for participating in the BICSI Cabling Skills Challenge. This will take place in Tampa, Fla. for BICSI 2013 Winter Conference & Exhibition. This challenge has been organized for the sixth time by BICSI and participants will face different challenges such as fiber termination, cable assembly and SCS (News - Alert) installation in an effort to be crowned Installer of the Year and win $5,000.

And tThe good news doesn’t end here for the Cable Icon winner. If the application of the winner for participating in Cabling Skills Challenge is approved, then Concert Technologies will sponsor the winner or winner’s trip to Tampa including air fare, hotel expenses, food, and conference exhibition. The company will also pay the participant for their hard work in this week long competition.

RCDD, NTS (News - Alert), OSP, ITS technician David M. Richards said that his organization deeply appreciated this step from Concert Technologies. He added that they have always been making  sure that only the best trained technicians and installers work in the ITS industry and this competition will provide a great opportunity for future ITS installers and technicians.

Dennis Mazaris, RCDD, RTPM, president of Concert Technologies and creator of Cabling Icon, added that he is excited to have BICSI working the Cabling Icon contest for many reasons.
