International Datacasting Partners with Canal Uno

International Datacasting (News - Alert) Corporation (TSX:IDC), a digital content distributor for broadcasters, recently signed an agreement with Canal Uno, a television broadcaster in Latin America, for the former’s LASER solution.
According to the agreement, Canal Uno will deploy LASER at retransmitter sites across Ecuador and other parts of Latin America.
LASER enables broadcasters distributing content via satellite to increase advertising revenue by inserting regional or local commercials at the edge of the network. It also opens the door to additional advertising clients, as broadcasters are no longer constrained by regional licensing or regulatory issues, and can simply blackout and replace advertising inventory to suit their needs.
Each receiving location can be addressed individually or by geographical area.
LASER provides pinpoint accuracy, allowing satellite operators to offer advertisers the same level of ad insertion granularity offered by Cable TV or IPTV providers.
"IDC (News - Alert) remains focused on developing innovative products that will deliver measurable results for our customers in terms of revenues and efficiencies," stated Del Lippert, Interim CEO and Chairman of the Board. "IDC LASER revolutionizes how broadcasters such as Canal Uno can deliver targeted video advertising content for enhanced revenue generation and an expanded audience base."
LASER combines frame accurate video splicing within the remote site receiver, with ad content delivery and SCTE-35-based splicing control at the head-end, to provide broadcasters delivering content by satellite with an easy-to-deploy, elegant solution for increasing advertising revenue.
It uses a narrow data channel multiplexed alongside the primary video feed to distribute advertising content.
IDC’s market-leading Centient Media Aware (News - Alert) Content Delivery Network (CDN) platform uses this data channel to deliver and manage advertising content on the network’s population of receivers.
"At Canal Uno we are investing in innovative technology to offer our advertisers and clients new strategies to market their products to target audiences. We are also looking to provide our audience with a state-of-the-art national television network. The IDC LASER technology will enable us to meet these objectives, as we incorporate this system into our nationwide network in the coming months," stated Jose Maria Rivas, executive vice president, Canal Uno TV.
