YOU On Demand Inks Distribution Agreement with Tianjin IPTV

By Mini Swamy, TMCnet Contributor

YOU On Demand, regarded as one of China’s leading pay-per-view and video-on-demand platforms, has new plans for the New Year. It is seeking to expand its on demand services from cable to the IPTV (News - Alert) platform and to this end has signed a distribution agreement with Tianjin IPTV.

Tianjin is a metropolis in northern China and one of the five national central cities of the People's Republic of China and its IPTV services covers households across 16 major districts and counties in the greater Tianjin metropolitan area.

"We are honored to partner with Tianjin IPTV and are looking forward to reaching this new consumer base," noted Shane McMahon, chairman and CEO of YOU On Demand.

Under the agreement, once YOU On Demand launches with Tianjin IPTV, the number of customers that can access the variety of films that You on Demand delivers every month will increase.  This is because television services will be delivered using the Internet protocol suite over a packet-switched network instead of being delivered through the traditional formats.

As YOU On Demand has existing content deals in place with many of Hollywood’s top studios and a broad selection of content from Chinese filmmakers, it is well positioned to provide users on demand access to all the latest Hollywood releases and leading independent movie title. Hence, there will be no dearth of entertainment for its new customers.

The company has always evinced keen interest in securing alliances with leading global media operators and content developers and has been partnering with new and exciting distribution platforms to deliver the highest quality entertainment to the largest number of customers. The current agreement with Tianjin IPTV is also an effort in that direction.

In addition, YOU On Demand has strategic partnerships with the largest media entities in China, a highly experienced management team with international background and expertise, all of which are testimony to its strong interest in the Chinese TV market.

Recently, YOU On Demand Holdings, Inc. announced the successful launch of its full suite of entertainment offerings giving China-based consumers several choices through its Transactional VOD (TVOD), Subscription Video On Demand (SVOD) and Near Video On Demand (NVOD) services.
