By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

TransGaming Inc., the global player in developing and delivering platform-defining social video game experiences to consumers around the world, has launched an exclusive World Poker Tour game on GameTree TV for the Freebox Revolution (News - Alert).

The Freebox Revolution is the latest generation set-top box by Free, the French telecommunication company that first introduced a "triple-play" service in France, combining Internet, landline, and IP television.

World Poker Tour (WPT) is the premier name in internationally televised gaming and entertainment with a brand presence in land-based tournaments, television, online and mobile.

Officials with TransGaming said that the WPT game will extend this globally loved experience to Freebox's rapidly growing subscriber base, adding a rich layer of social engagement and interactivity.

According to company officials, TransGaming's exclusive WPT game will be available as part of the GameTree TV subscription service, as well as for separate purchase shortly thereafter.

"World Poker Tour is known for providing its players with incredible poker experiences, both in live events and online," said Adam Pliska, president, WPT, in a statement.

"We couldn't be more pleased with our new game from TransGaming, which gives our global fan base an immersive and authentic WPT experience on their connected TVs," said Pliska.

Vikas Gupta, CEO & president, TransGaming said that the Connected TV market is growing at a rapid pace and consumers are looking for the highest-quality branded entertainment content on their televisions.

“We've built the World Poker Tour video game to offer a dedicated 'television based experience' that makes players feel like they are participating in a real WPT tournament. This game is truly extraordinary and we believe it will define the Connected TV video games experience," said Gupta.

He said that the company has seen strong traction and revenue growth since its migration to a subscription-only model with GameTree TV and the availability of WPT is expected to energize this growth.

Earlier in April, TransGaming had announced an agreement with Google (News - Alert) to license TransGaming’s SwiftShader 3D rendering technology, which allows applications to generate 3D graphics on a CPU without the use of a graphics processing unit.

The agreement is an expansion of a previous license.
