Verimatrix (News - Alert) Video Content Authority System (VCAS) for Internet TV, which offers revenue and security enhancing solutions for multi-network, multi-screen digital TV services has been picked by Stofa, Denmark’s second largest cable operator.

Stofa has deployed the Verimatrix VCAS solution for Internet TV in order to enhance its SmartTv over-the-top (OTT) solution. The video service will be provided over-the-top of Stofa’s existing broadband network via HTTP Live Streaming (HLS).

According to officials the features include several live and on-demand TV channels such as premium content from C More and HBO. The Stofa SmartTv service also delivers fully interactive control functions like pause, rewind, movie rentals and start-over. Besides, content can be offered on multiple screens, computers, smartphones and tablets.

Thomas Helbo, chief technical officer, Stofa said, “Stofa is committed to providing our subscribers with the content and the service options they crave. To successfully offer our subscribers more choices, however, we first needed to ensure that we could effectively secure multi-screen services, not only to prevent piracy and revenue loss, but also to ensure a high quality of experience (QoE) for our valued subscribers.”

VCAS for Internet TV serves as a security solution for OTT services over networks that are designed for HLS adaptive rate video delivery. VCAS for Internet TV safeguards video services that can be delivered on screens and across multiple network types. They also match the requirements of broadcast (linear) and on-demand delivery modes.

Verimatrix enhanced HLS’s security features with advanced protection technologies that are usually featured in managed IPTV and DVB pay-TV systems.

Steve Oetegenn (News - Alert), chief sales and marketing officer, Verimatrix remarked, “Stofa has been very successful in its efforts to extend their service brand and subscriber relationships beyond the living room, indeed beyond the home, to satisfy demands for personalized choices and flexible viewing models.”

Recently, Verimatrix announced various initiatives that help make comprehensive pay-TV security integrity and flexibility more available to the public broadcaster and Free-to-Air (FTA) community around the world.
