itaas Is Your Expert Behind the Scenes

By Rich Steeves, TMCnet Managing Editor

If itaas (News - Alert) was a character in a medieval fantasy story, it would be a dashing sellsword. It would not be a high profile king or decorated knight, but rather a skilled individual, working for hire, toiling behind the scenes to get the job done adroitly and with little fanfare. That’s because itaas is a work-for-hire company with few products or intellectual property of its own. But that is just the way the team at itaas likes it.

According to Jamil Elayan, VP of marketing at itaas, MSOs and OEMs come to itaas when they need software development, integration or testing. In other words, when they need to connect A to B, they ask itaas to help. For example, Time Warner (News - Alert) Cable came to the company with an intelligent home app for iPads, and itaas was able to put it on smart TVs.

Elayan said that the company, which employs more than 200 people in India, Canada and the United States, gets a great deal of its business through customer referrals. One example of the work it has done is the development of an RDK for Comcast (News - Alert). If you put in a trouble ticket, itaas handles it on behalf of Comcast.

Another piece of the company’s business is testing. If a customer wants to pretest something before it goes to the lab, itaas can do that. It also handles test automation, making the job much faster and easier. Like many other companies in the space, itaas is currently working on multiple screen and connected home products. But you might not know it, since they are working behind the scenes, taking no credit yet still saving the day.
