By Brian Anderson, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Casa Systems, a next-gen cable edge technology provider based in Andover, Mass., announced on Monday that Guangzhou Digital Media Group, one of China’s largest cable network operators, has placed a substantial order for Casa’s Integrated CCAP solution.

The solution will allow Guangzhou to provide highly scalable broadband services as well as traditional broadband access and VoIP services.

"In choosing Casa Systems' Converged Cable Access Platform technology, we have identified a streamlined mechanism for delivering I-CCAP functionality at a reduced cost with greater scalability," said Liu Mingliang, vice president of Guangzhou Digital Media Group, in a statement. "We are eager to deploy this technology to deliver an improved customer experience which is made possible with Casa's industry-leading I-CCAP platform."

Although Casa competed against many varying platforms during Guangzhou’s selection process, they managed to win the order thanks to the qualifications its I-CCAP technology was able to meet.

"We are excited to begin the next chapter with Guangzhou Digital Media Group," stated Jerry Guo, founder and CEO of Casa Systems. "Guangzhou is one of China's most successful cable TV operators and is poised to continue its significant growth by taking advantage of the density, reliability, and scalability and service creation capabilities of our I-CCAP technology."

Guangzhou has worked with Casa Systems in the past, choosing Casa’s C10G platform to help grow the company’s broadband communications system to the city. Guangzhou is the sixth largest city in China, and Guangzhou Digital Media Group has over two million subscribers based there.

Casa Systems is a provider of cable edge devices that help cable operators focus on the growing market opportunity in interactive digital video and broadband IP services over cable networks. Along with reducing the cost of large-scale deployment of services like VoD, Network-based DVR and Video-over-IP, Casa products effectively increase the flexibility and density of such services.
