Passive TV viewing seems to be on its way out. Armed with new age devices, TV viewers are demanding, and getting, an enhanced level of interactivity with their TV viewing experience.

NeuLion (News - Alert), Inc., has announced that the company has been selected by Pivot to provide a downloadable interactive app for Pivot’s new cable network. This new app will enable Pivot to deliver its content on numerous digital devices and increase its reach.

Pivot will be using NeuLion's TV Everywhere Platform for the Pivot TV App. This way, the company can easily broadcast its programs to authenticated Pay TV and broadband-only subscribers.

This arrangement is part of Pivot’s strategy to enable viewers to watch its content from anywhere, anytime. The company believes that television has transformed into a new, interactive and dynamic experience. Consumers are attracted to television platforms that offer them a greater deal of interactivity, and Pivot is looking to capture that market.

NeuLion's TV Everywhere Platform allows users to watch multiple live Big Ten games, all from a single media player. They can also watch linear channels live or on-demand. The content is delivered in HD and comes with smooth streaming and DVR functionality.

“NeuLion is excited to have been selected to provide Pivot with our TV Everywhere platform," said Chris Wagner, executive vice president and co-founder of NeuLion. "Television consumption has become a new interactive and dynamic experience -- it is no longer simply a passive activity. Consumers want to personalize how they choose to consume media, and the app created by Pivot and NeuLion aims to give a variety of choices that suits Millennials' viewing preferences.”

Recently, the company hosted a new installment of its Digital Dudes series, where an expert panel discussed the nitty-gritty of TV Everywhere and shared thoughts about deployment and monetization.
