NETGEAR Launches New Cable Gateways Complementing its Cable Products Portfolio

NETGEAR announced the launch of two new Cable Gateways extending its portfolio of cable products for retail applications. The newly launched NETGEAR AC1750 Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router Gigabit Ethernet (C6300) and NETGEAR N450 Wi-Fi Cable Modem Router (N450) will be showcased at the Consumer Electronics Show scheduled in Las Vegas during January 2014.

In a release, David Henry, Vice President of Product Management for Retail Business, said, “We know our customers have come to expect best-in-class products from NETGEAR to improve home entertainment experiences. To that end, we've rounded out our cable product portfolio with the introduction of these two new Cable Gateways that incorporate industry-leading technology in both cable modem and wireless technologies to supercharge your home network. You'll get the newest and the fastest technology while being able to eliminate your monthly equipment rental fee.”

The new gateways allow for superfast internet as well as Wi-Fi in a single compact device speeding up the cable internet with a simplified solution. Further, the new gateways will also eliminate the costs incurred on monthly rental for the modem. The gateways feature four Gigabit Ethernet ports providing wired as well as wireless connectivity for a host of devices such as desktop PC, network storage equipment, tablet PCs and laptops. Additionally, the users can have wireless access from any device on the home network to the USB device attached to the USB port in the gateways.

The new products offer simplified installation process while enabling functionalities such as guest access and parental control. The products are compatible for use with most of the cable Internet providers such Cablevision, Cox, Charter, Time Warner Cable, Comcast (News - Alert) and XFINITY amongst others. The N450 is available immediately through various retailers and online stores while AC1750 will be available in the market by the second quarter of 2014.
