Entropic announced the launch of its first fully-integrated Set-Top Box (News - Alert) System on a Chip (STB SOC) product suite under the aegis of EN7300-series. The new product line integrates High-efficiency Video Codec (HEVC) decoding, dual DVB-S/S2 demodulators and Multimedia over Coax Alliance (MoCA) 2.0 home networking with features such as full-band capture satellite tuning and 3D graphics acceleration.

In a release, Patrick Henry, President and Chief Executive Officer at Entropic (News - Alert), said “The EN7300-series is the culmination of the Company's combined efforts from our STB, MoCA and advanced mixed signal teams and delivers on our promise to offer the Pay-TV market more cost-effective, lower power silicon solutions. This new product family demonstrates both our commitment to the global Pay-TV market and our focus on advancing the feature-rich set of set-top box receivers and IP-Client devices with the latest silicon innovations required by world-class operators.”

The new launch marks a significant milestone for Entropic, enabling the company to offer advanced solutions to a broader market catering to High Definition (HD) satellite receiver and IP-Client STB requirements. The high-end video distribution service market is highly competitive and also involves more complex procedures to leverage lost cost and power efficient solutions for offering differentiated services.

The newly launched product suite includes the EN731x, a single-chip dual DVB-S/S2, HEVC STB SOC and the EN730x, a single-chip HEVC IP-Client SOC. Both the versions can be purchased with or without MoCA 2.0. The product is being showcased at the international Consumer Electronics Show ongoing in Las Vegas and will be available for first use during the first quarter of 2014 followed by the mass commercial production.

Entropic is a global leader in the development of semiconductor solutions for application in a connected home. The company’s advanced STB SOC systems offer Pay-TV operators to provide IP-based streaming video content in secured format for delivering whole-home entertainment. Entropic products and solutions are touted to redefine the way digital entertainment is distributed, shared and consumed in the vicinities of a home or when on the go.
