Envivio Selected for Blink

By Anil Sharma, TMCnet Contributor

Envivio (News - Alert) Muse encoders and Envivio Halo network media processors (NMP) have been deployed by Omni for live streaming of premium content as part of the new blink TV service in the Philippines.

Envivio Muse encoders provide a high-quality, all-digital live or file-based workflow that fits new and existing environments, simplifies operations, reduces equipment requirements and controls expansion costs.

Envivio Halo encrypts, packages, stores and distributes video streams for TV Everywhere and TV Anytime services. Halo NMPs offer huge network capacity savings, increase the flexibility of multi-screen operations and enable time-shifted applications such as catch-up TV, start-over TV, nPVR and targeted ad insertion.  Halo works with the existing broadcast infrastructure to deliver protected video to any device.

Blink brings Hollywood to the Philippines through its video-on-demand service that lets one instantly stream favorite movies and TV Shows over the internet whenever, wherever, via desktop, laptop, tablet, or smart phone.

"Our goal is to enable viewers in the Philippines to consume content according to their desires—viewing the content they want, when they want, and on any device," said Joemar Tiano, CTO at Omni, in a statement.

Tiano said that the Envivio Muse encoders provide the video quality, flexibility and performance the company needs in order to provide blink viewers with an outstanding viewing experience on any device.

“Plus, the solution can scale to meet our needs as we expand the channel lineup," said Tiano.

"Multi-screen video delivery is the foundation of our business, and we are pleased to work with an innovator like blink to enable a new video delivery business model in the Philippines," said Julien Signes (News - Alert), president and CEO, Envivio.

Signes said that Envivio’s software-based video compression and processing solutions are both feature-rich and flexible, to accommodate the needs of operators who want to deliver high quality video to any device, from TVs to smartphones.

Envivio partner NERA Philippines performed the deployment and integration for the blink TV service.

In July of last year TMCnet reported that VOLIA, a pay TV operator in Ukraine, has selected Envivio Muse transcoders for delivering the latest over-the-top (OTT) Internet TV services.

The transcoding offering for VOLIA has been implemented on Envivio’s 4Caster G4 platform. Broadcasting and multiscreen video processing are possible with this high-performance computing application.
