TVU Networks, Inc. Expands its Global Headquarters

By Daniel Brecht, Contributing Writer

TVU Network has just announced the expansion of its headquarters. The move to larger facilities has been prompted by the company’s growth and the need to expand operations to better serve the needs of the many new customers.

TVU Network is based in Mountain View, California but has offices in New York, Boston, Raleigh, and Shanghai, China. It is a global, privately-held business in the field of wireless electronic newsgathering (ENG) and Internet broadcasting solutions. It was founded in 2005 and has, for the past 9 years, provided broadcasting technology to broadcasters, sport customers and law enforcement agencies. The solutions offered by TVU network, in fact, has made it possible to broadcast from anywhere, in a cost effective way, to reach the wider possible audience

The company has launched on the market products that have become staples for many broadcasters: The award winning TVUpack, for example, and the TVU Gris. In the past two years these products have expanded TVU Network customer base and have allowed it to work with a wider network of global resellers. The headquarter expansion is due to the need of better catering to the larger clientele and comes after another announcement from the company about its plans of opening new offices worldwide. In December, in fact, CEO Paul Shen explained that “TVU has experienced tremendous growth over the past year, and as a result we are expanding our presence in a number of countries around the globe, including Canada.”

The TVU Grid is an IP-video distribution system, routing and switching solution that allows broadcasters to share live video streams from several remote locations. Customers can stream live video from wherever they want. They can combine seamlessly an unlimited number of video streams coming from different locations at the click of a button thanks to a user friendly interface. The product allows broadcasters to use their existing infrastructures and can be scaled to their needs thanks to the simple addition or removal of additional transceivers.

The TVUPack, instead, is probably the most known of the company’s solutions.  This is a family of lightweight, portable video capturing and transmitting products that allow the broadcasting of high quality video of events and news on-the-go. Transmission is in SD or HD and uses 3G/4G/LTE (News - Alert)/WiFi/WiMax and BGAN connections rather than satellite or microwaves. This allows a lot of flexibility and the possibility of transmitting even from places where normal infrastructure wouldn’t allow it: remote locations, moving vehicles, crowded venues.  TVU Network has worked on proprietary technology that is used to ensure the best possible image quality even in adverse conditions and when using unstable networks.

What has attracted customers, however, is also the relative ease of use, as no configuration is necessary by the operator who can setup a transmission in less than a minute. Cost savings is, obviously, another reason for the product’s popularity: customers have no need to use expensive satellite connections, transmitting vans and additional technical personnel.

TVUPacks have already been put to good use during many events of global importance, including Hurricane Sandy, the London Olympics and the Mandela’s memorial service. TVU Network has provided also a rental TVU pack to broadcaster covering the Sochi Winter Games and, earlier this month, the company stroke a deal with NFL media for the transmission of live broadcast and new media platform.
