Haivision's Secure Reliable Transport Tech Available with Makito X Series Encoders and Decoders

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Haivision has unveiled a secure reliable transport (SRT) technology that will be provided free of cost along with all Makito X Series encoders and decoders.

The SRT will ensure high-quality, low-cost video transport over the Internet and is designed to deliver optimum video quality. Also, SRT will enhance the video streaming performance across unpredictable Internet networks, eliminating occurrence of packet loss, jitter and bandwidth fluctuations, all of which generally affects the viewing experience.

SRT is designed to control common problems encountered with Internet streaming as it can detect network conditions in real time and realign the stream for providing optimized video for viewers. SRT ensures end-to-end security, resiliency and dynamic endpoint adjustment.

This technology will be available on the Makito X Series and is soon expected to be available with all Haivision’s solutions, said officials.

Steen Mertz, head of communications technology at Jyske Bank revealed that Haivision’s Makito X with SRT technology is offering highly reliable, high-quality 24/7 live stream over the Internet from NASDAQ MarketSite studio in New York Times Square to the news studio at Jyske Bank’s corporate production center in Denmark.

Jyske Bank is a major bank in Denmark that is leveraging Haivision’s Makito X encoders with SRT in order to broadcast its financial news channel, Jyske Bank TV, to online audiences.  The video quality at low bitrates is of optimum quality, according to Mertz.

Haivision’s SRT ensures operational flexibility and does not rely on satellite or dedicated network infrastructure. The cost-effective solution can be used to stream events from any venue as it eliminates reliance on Internet connections. Also monitoring of remote facility feeds is possible without dedicated network provisioning. This reduces long lead times and there is no need for annual contracts.

In addition, content programming can be increased without satellite links, which are expensive to operate. The solution also streams live video to digital signage networks without the need for investments in new infrastructure according to company officials.

Haivision’s latest version of InStream Mobile offers iPad, iPhone (News - Alert), and Android viewers the fastest video player for live, high-definition video streaming. InStream Mobile is ideal for the most demanding enterprise applications that require live collaboration, support mission critical decisions, or rely on an in-context viewing experience. In contrast, typical mobile streaming solutions are subject to a 10- to 60-second delay.
