By Carolyn J Dawson, TMCnet Contributor

Time Warner (News - Alert) Cable Business Class (TWCBC) recently announced that it has achieved Carrier Ethernet (CE) 2.0 certifications from the Metro Ethernet Forum (MEF (News - Alert)). The MEF CE 2.0 certifications have been awarded for TWCBC’s Wholesale E-Access services which achieved all eight service configurations for CE 2.0. The certifications ensure that the highest possible quality standards are being delivered.

TWCBC is backed by a strong support team with 24 employees that are already CE 2.0 certified.

Phil Meeks, executive vice president and chief operating officer at Time Warner Cable Business Services said, “As North America’s first and only provider with all eight CE 2.0 certifications, Time Warner Cable Business Class provides reliable, scalable, and feature-rich Ethernet services. MEF is the recognized defining body for Carrier Ethernet and their certification provides assurance that we’re delivering high performing, standards-compliant solutions to meet the complex networking needs of our customers. We are committed to being the number one choice for commercial services and this recognition is part of our continuing effort to move up market and provide targeted solutions for mid-market and enterprise organizations, as well as for carrier partners by delivering wholesale service.”

Other important features of CE 2.0 qualification include offering 8 services, 2 of each respectively in E-Line, E-LAN, E-Tree and E-Access; offering industry-first standardized Multi-CoS with application-oriented CoS performance objectives and new metrics; the ability to interconnect through the integrated delivery of MEF Service Attributes - thereby enabling complete deployment covering multiple providers; and providing delivery of standardized carrier-class services over one provider’s network.

Nan Chen, president of the MEF said, “CE 2.0 is a highly challenging and significant accreditation to achieve and creates an important standard of deployment for the marketplace. Therefore we’re happy to see Time Warner Cable Business Class become the first North American company to receive all eight certifications.”

TWCBC’s Wholesale E-Access services offer reliable, complete metro access with dedicated, scalable capacity and flexible bandwidth options, with the bandwidth speeds ranging usually from 5 Mbps to 10 Gbps. TWCBC has also achieved several other MEF certifications over the years.
