Right on the heels of Time Warner (News - Alert) Cable Business Class (TWCBC) announcing that it was the first and only North American company to receive all eight Carrier Ethernet 2.0 certifications, its status was further boosted by an announcement that it was placed in Vertical Systems Group's U.S. Carrier Ethernet LEADERBOARD as a top cable company.

“LEADERBOARD cable companies have developed a winning formula for the U.S. business Ethernet market," explained Rick Malone, principal at Vertical Systems Group.

Vertical Systems Group’s LEADERBOARDs are industry benchmarks for recognizing service providers based on market presence, and to qualify, a provider must have four percent or more of billable retail port installations. Based on port share results for year-end 2013, TWC stole a march over three others to up its overall rankings from eighth to fifth spot.

"Being recognized by a respected firm like Vertical Systems Group as the top cable company for Carrier Ethernet is wonderful validation of our leadership position in the industry, something we earn every day servicing the thousands of businesses which rely upon our highly reliable and scalable Ethernet services," said Greg King, senior vice president and chief product and strategy officer.

Well-known for its innovation in Ethernet services, TWCBC has continued to remain at the forefront of the industry, providing services for some of the largest companies in the country. These services are delivered over a fiber-rich network backed by industry leading service level agreements.

“As the top cable provider on our LEADERBOARD, Time Warner Cable Business Class is demonstrating great growth potential by being a leader in the industry," added Malone.

Its ambitious and aggressive network expansion program and commitment to provide wide-area network services to leading demanding, standards, driven customers have contributed largely to the improvement in its rankings over the previous year.

By providing reliable MEF (News - Alert) CE 2.0 certified Ethernet Private Line, Ethernet LAN, and wholesale Ethernet-Access network solutions, it has continued to retain its leading position in retail Ethernet services and plays an important role in interconnecting business locations within and across metro and regional markets.

According to Malone, TWCBC was successfully leveraging its on-net fiber footprints to offer aggressive pricing and rapid service provisioning.

Today, TWCBC’s services are widely available in over 58,000 fiber-lit buildings and 800,000 DOCSIS-equipped buildings, and show great promise for further growth.
