DISH Anywhere App Updated with New Interface

It’s a myth that customers want to watch their TV content only on TV screens. DTH service providers have understood this fact better that anyone else. So, they are providing services that will help the viewers to watch their favorite shows anywhere, anytime.

Enabling customers to watch and record their favorite content from their smartphones, DISH has announced an update for its DISH Anywhere app on iPad, Android (News - Alert) and Kindle tablets. The update includes modernized user interface and various other new capabilities that makes watching DISH content on the go easy and fun.

The new user interface in DISH Anywhere focuses more on ease of operations. It sports a dark background and colorful thumbnails that make it easier to navigate the app. The app also remembers what viewers are watching and recommends new programs to them. It also allows customers to watch and add shows to a watch list.

On the hardware front, this app lets customers to control their remote with their smartphone. The app has a built-in DISH remote, which includes the ability to turn a TV on/off, change channels, adjust volume, access the Hopper menu, and set and playback recorded content.

“DISH Anywhere has been embraced by DISH customers as the premier platform for watching television shows while on the go,” said Vivek Khemka, DISH senior vice president of product management. “This is a powerful upgrade; the app’s streamlined design creates a user-friendly experience while giving consumers a dynamic way to engage and discover new programs.”

DISH has been continuously working to better its DISH Anywhere app. Recently, the company selected Synacor (News - Alert) to facilitate its TV Everywhere integration with social media. The company plans to install Cloud ID Social Login for in-home and mobile TV Everywhere access via DISH Anywhere.
