Smartvue to Provide Western Digital with Video Surveillance Solutions

By Frank Griffin, TMCnet Contributing Writer

Digital surveillance technology now makes it possible for individuals and businesses to use high definition cameras, and access the content through the cloud and on their mobile device no matter where they are. This has allowed consumers and companies to deploy these systems to protect their homes and businesses with better quality images and availability from different channels. Smartvue Corporation, provider of cloud video surveillance solutions, has announced it is going to be providing Western Digital (News - Alert), a hard drive manufacturer, with new video surveillance solutions.

The availability of the Smartvue surveillance platform will allow Western Digital to offer more options for its My Cloud EX2 and My Cloud EX4 NAS devices so they can be integrated as part of a business grade video surveillance system with cloud capability.

Customers that use the WD Network-attached storage (NAS) devices can use the storage on the unit for surveillance and login remotely using any smartphone, tablet or computer to view live or recorded video.

"WD is expanding its services by providing its small business customers with a sophisticated business surveillance solution," said Jim Gregg, director of product marketing, WD. "Smartvue enables us to deliver a powerful video surveillance experience that helps our customers manage and protect their businesses."

This service will allow WD customers to leverage their NAS devices for surveillance storage and login remotely through the cloud on any. Customers will also be able to set recording schedules, receive automated trigger alerts, enable motion detection and more.

"There is a tremendous demand among businesses for a video intelligence solution that uses cost effective NAS storage and provides both remote management tools and cloud-powered security," said Martin Renkis, founder and CEO of Smartvue Corporation. "We are excited to help WD meet that global demand with our elegantly simple Smartvue surveillance solutions."
