The communication industry today is witnessing severe growth, and the demand for quality video content is growing in high speed.  Contents of the new IP-based video ecosystem pass through multi-streaming environment and this clearly has created a demand for validation, compliance and verification of the video content.

SAT Corporation, a subsidiary of National Security Solutions provider Kratos (News - Alert) Defense & Security Solutions is addressing this demand with the launch of StreamMon, a solution for IP multicast verification for broadcasters, cable operators and other video service providers.

StreamMon is a new caching-based model developed in association with a top cable operator, capable of helping operators to improve validation tasks at a cost far more affordable than using recorders or analyzers. This next generation solution automatically caches 100 percent of desired video transmissions to support service level agreements and related compliance and verification needs.

"StreamMon's extensible architecture supports the entire value chain from content acquisition through aggregation, encoding, transcoding, encryption and distribution," Jason Finnigan, product manager for video solutions at SAT said in a statement.

"By employing an intelligent caching model with workflow support, StreamMon helps operators assure service quality and protect revenue in a number of important ways," Finnigan added.

StreamMon supports the entire distribution chain from content acquisition through aggregation, encoding, transcoding, encryption and distribution. The system has one unit continuously capturing up to 40 streams of 40Mb/s or 100 streams of 2.5 to 5 Mb/s of video. Typically it can support a continuous caching period of approximately four hours. It can also easily integrate with network monitoring tools to support responsive alarms and works a near wirespeed.

Kratos' subsidiary SAT specializes in monitoring and management solutions for the satellite and telecommunications industries. SAT’s products include; Monics, a carrier monitoring system, and satID, a Radio Frequency Interference (RFI (News - Alert)) geolocation.
