Brazilian MSO SimTV Digitizes its Cable TV Operations using Conax

Brazilian MSO SimTV has entered into a contract with global security provider Conax to deliver a high-end content protection solution for SimTV’s cable TV service and digitization of the operator’s 16 remote sites across the country.

SimTV, a brand owned by BandTV (Grupo Bandeirantes Communications) is a leading player in the Brazilian market and it offers an exciting bouquet of programs and services. SimTv’s Canal 17 covers a population of about 1,101,175 million households and serves about 50 municipalities. They have a very good growth opportunity, and are partnering with Conax to provide security-evaluated client devices on the SimTV platform.

In a release, Carlos Vaisman, SimTV president said, “SimTV is confident in its choice of Conax, a strong, stable security partner, to protect and enhance our business as it grows. We believe that Conax’ broad experience within digitization and our close cooperation will make a strong partnership for maximizing SimTV’s new opportunities and securing future business models.”

BandTV, the parent company of SimTV, owns two broadcast television networks, three pay-tv channels, six radio networks, a newspaper classified, a signal distributor and cable content, a music label with large successes and greater interactivity platform in Brazil.
