Cox Communication Announces its First 'Golden Digeez' Awards Program

Cox (News - Alert) Communications, a broadband communications and entertainment company, recently announced that it will be hosting its first "Golden Digeez" Awards program. The event recognizes individuals who provide technology support to their friends and neighbors. The winner will be determined by popular vote through the Facebook (News - Alert) page, and will receive three months of service for free and a Golden Digeez statuette. The winners will be named the "People's Choice" recipient.

Cox will also give "Cox Choice Award" to an entry chosen. The individual who provides the nomination will also win, as they will receive one month of the Cox Preferred Bundle for FREE.

"It's the first time Cox has done something like this where we are recognizing the fulfillment of our brand promise among consumers…that promise is for us to be a friend in the digital age.  We know that technology is becoming even more challenging for some consumers, and this program is intended to recognize and reward those who are helping their friends and neighbors out," says Gary McCollum, Cox Virginia Senior Vice President and General Manager, in a statement.  

McCollum adds, "This individual personifies the actions of the Cox mascot Digeez by assisting their family and friends with their video, internet, telephone and wireless phone services."

The contest is hosted on Cox Hampton Road's Facebook page where votes are cast. To nominate a deserving individual you can visit your the Cox Hampton Roads Facebook page and click on the left tab entitled "Golden Digeez."  Nominations will be accepted until September 9, 2011.  

In related news, Cox Communications, Inc. has appointed Jeremy Bye as vice president of wholesale and national accounts. Bye has led the network and Cox Business (News - Alert) operations teams in the company's Virginia market since 2009. He originally joined Cox's New England system in 2002, where he led carrier access and service delivery operations.
