Satview to Offer Triple-Play Services at Nevada Cable Television Systems

By Shamila Janakiraman, TMCnet Contributor

Satview Broadband Limited has just announced that it will be offering a Triple-Play service at its Elko and Wellington, Nevada cable television systems.

The Elko system will be upgraded to expand to the area of service where these additional services will be made available. Currently, Satview owns six cable systems and is a wholly-owned subsidiary of WENR Corporation, which is a cable television operator in Northern Nevada. In operation for the past nine years, Satview presently holds franchise systems in six markets and is planning to expand further, said officials in a release.

Triple-Play service in telecommunications refers to a marketing term used to describe the provisioning of two bandwidth-intensive services such as high-speed Internet access and television, and a less bandwidth-demanding service, telephone, all over a single broadband connection.

In addition, triple play leverages a combined business model instead of marketing the services separately. In this case, Satview plans to market locally to Elko inhabitants. This will increase its subscriber base and net revenue, revealed officials.

In June 2011, Satview Broadband Limited announced the signing of an advertisement insertion agreement with TechTV Media in order provide, install, sell, and manage advertisement insertion systems.

Currently, TechTV markets its suite of products via its national advertising agency relationships and ads on Satview’s cable television systems. Satview will receive 40 percent of the proceeds from these advertisements, according to the release.

Satview is a Reno-based television programming provider serving California and Nevada. The company operates franchise cable operations in Southern Douglas County in Nevada and Mono County, California, builds and operates broadband systems and provides television programming that suits the demographics of the community that it serves.
