Time Warner (News - Alert) Cable Inc. , a provider of video, high-speed data and phone services, has understood the important role that broadband adoption plays in the 'Internet Age'. It has committed itself to contributing one million dollars to run broadband adoption Public Service Announcements (PSAs).

In a press release, Gail MacKinnon, Time Warner Cable EVP and Chief Government Affairs Officer, said, "Promoting broadband adoption through Broadband Opportunity Coalition's PSAs will reinforce our efforts to reach out to the communities we serve."

The PSAs are part of the BBOC National Broadband Adoption Awareness campaign, which was funded by a $28.5 million grant from the National Telecommunications and Information Administration.

BBOC is a partnership of the nation's largest civil rights organizations, which recognizes the significance of enabling minority communities to benefit from the advantages of digital technology.

Together with One Economy, BBOC has made an effort to translate this adoption initiative into a distinct reality. It has been provided with research, legal, policy and PSA placement support.

One Economy is a global nonprofit that uses innovative approaches to deliver the power of technology and information to low-income people.

Rey Ramsey, Co-Chairman BBOC/Founder and Chairman of the Board, One Economy Corporation noted that awareness about the relevancy and importance of broadband was still very limited and praised Time Warner Cable for its generous gesture.

He said, "This generous contribution from Time Warner Cable will enable us to reach the population that is most in need of maximizing the full potential of technology and broadband."

Funds for the BTOP grant are included in the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act of 2009.

In other news, Time Warner Cable received a Silver Anvil Award of Excellence, from the Public Relations Society of America. The Award of Excellence recognizes outstanding strategic public relations planning and implementation.
