NDS Highlighted Cost-Effective, Secure and Scalable Digital Cable TV Solutions at SCaT India

NDS (News - Alert), a supplier of digital technology and services, showcased a range of solutions tailored for the Indian digital cable TV market at Satellite & Cable TV India (SCaT) 2011 held from October 13th - 15th in Mumbai, India.

“The Indian cable TV market is set to go through a radical change and we are committed to supporting our existing and new customers through the digitization process and beyond,” Jayant Changrani, Country head and general manager, NDS India, said in a press release.

“In a burgeoning market with multiple players it's vital that platforms differentiate their service with added value features and functionality and as a leading technology provider in the global market and the region we understand what our customers need to successfully grow their business,” Changrani added.

At the show, NDS demonstrated solutions that can be of great use for existing analogue cable operators and new entrants to the market enabling them to launch digital TV services with a compelling and differentiated offering.

Key focus of NDS at the SCaT India 2011 was its cost effective and open, digital TV solutions, including: MediaHighway set-top box software, a solution that enables technology for over 195 million set-top boxes worldwide with added value features and functionality such as interactivity and advanced electronic program guides (EPG).

Focus was also on its VideoGuard conditional access (CA (News - Alert)) and digital rights management (DRM) technology, currently deployed on 155 million active devices, and safeguarding pay-TV service revenues exceeding $50 billion.

Headquartered in the UK, NDS has also implemented a host of initiatives aimed at reducing its carbon footprint and helping digital TV subscribers reduce energy consumption.

NDS recently announced that JAK Communications, an independent cable TV provider in Chennai, India, has selected an end-to-end solution from NDS to enable the launch of its digital pay-TV platform.

The enabling technology for over 195 million devices worldwide, NDS' MediaHighway will provide the technological underpinning for the new service from JAK Communications, including an NDS designed electronic program guide (EPG) and the framework to introduce new functionality and services as subscriber demand dictates. The platform will be secured by VideoGuard conditional access (CAS). NDS will also manage the deployment of devices for JAK Communications with ongoing maintenance and support.
